A trip to the Borders!

Chester Cityís Deva Stadium can certainly be called that and with part of the ground being situated in Wales, it might even be over the Border! Having said that, the locals are decidedly English and you wonít make any friends calling them Welsh.
I notice that whenever these border fans travel away they come complete with flags and banners underlining their Englishness. Carlisle fans do much the same in case anyone should think them Scots.
On paper Saturdayís fixture looks a nailed on away victory. Chester are struggling and in freefall after a quite alarming run of results. They havenít won this year and their last three points came at home to another side in freefall, Bury, before Christmas.
Lowly Mansfield Town were the last visitors to the Deva and they came away with the spoils and Grimsby did the same a couple of weeks before. Last weekend, another struggler Notts County broke their poor run by winning 1-0 against them at Meadow Lane although reports suggest a much-improved performance by Chester.†
Iíve been to Chester once or twice over the years and I canít honestly recall a win so this is definitely a potential banana skin. Yes, Iím well aware that we won last time we met there but I didnít make that trip.†
Richie Partridge, for some reason never popular with the Millers faithful, is now playing for them and another ex Miller Bobby Williamson is the man at the helm, at least whilst Iím writing this but given their poor form who knows! He might even have been managing us had events turned out differently, in view of his recent record thank goodness we chose Mark Robins!†
When we last met, early on in the season at Millmoor the Cheshire side were riding high and unbeaten away from home and came away with a 1-1 draw. Our collection of individuals had yet to perform as a team and I suppose that the draw was a fair result. I thought that they looked quite good.†How things can change and look at the league positions now.
Some might disagree but in my opinion, our form has suffered a bit of a blip of late though weíve managed to stay in the automatic places. Mark Robins keeps on stressing the need for a concerted effort in the forthcoming weeks if we are to maintain our position.
In my opinion, we really ought to be winning at the likes of Chester if we are serious about going up.†Another large travelling support is expected and I truly hope that they are not disappointed.†Hereís to another win and a happy return along the M56/62.†
